“I first met Dave in 1988 and what struck me about him back then still holds true today. He had this ease to him. At 15 years old every coach is intimidating but Dave had this approachable quality that made you believe that he truly cares about helping you get better. As I progressed and eventually reunited with Dave at the national team level, nothing had changed. He was always present in a supportive way, challenging you but being there for you along the way. Giving the kind of advice that would stay with you for years. Everything came full circle my final year as a player/assistant coach at the LA Galaxy. I was now behind the doors and that’s when Dave became a real mentor to me, taking me under his wing and imparting his wisdom to a young coach. I am forever grateful that I met Dave thirty five years ago and know that I was a better player and am a better coach because of it.”

“I had the privilege to have been coached by Dave Sarachan for 5 years with the Chicago Fire. Dave challenged us as players, helped us develop into good young men, and gave us the chance to compete for championships every year.  He created an environment each day that held everyone to high standards and he also made everyone feel comfortable. As amazing of a person Dave is, I think it’s equally important to note his strong desire for competition, how well he understood the game, and his ability to pass it on to the players.  Dave is a winner and I’m really fortunate to still have him as a mentor and a friend.”

“Dave was a fantastic coach with clever ideas in training based on the teams we would play. Combined with his incredible knowledge of the game, I learned a lot from his sessions that I still use to this day. He was a brilliant link between the manager and the players he was so integral for us winning three championships. But maybe more than anything, he is a real top person.”
